Here are five Bollywood songs not to be missed on Holi

The festival of colours ‘Holi’ is celebrated across India every year with much fervour and passion. Though, it is a ‘Hindu’ festival, it is celebrated by all the religions with harmony and grace. Holi is celebrated with joyful colours also known as ‘gulaal’, marking the victory of virtue and goodness over evil. Holi has been gaining popularity all over the world and is also being played wherever Indian diaspora exists, especially in Europe and North America.

People celebrate this day by distributing sweets and delicious dishes among friends and relatives. Children especially love to play with water colours and ‘pichkaris’. On this occasion, people dance to the tunes of various holi tracks and even take ‘bhaangs’. Here are five must songs that one cannot miss to dance on this auspicious day.

Aaj na chhodenge (Kati Patang) – This Holi song was sung by the legendary Kishore Kumar and Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar from the super hit movie Kati Patang released in 1970, starring Rajesh Khanna and Asha Parekh. This song is a fusion of romance mixed with the flavour of Holi. This melodious song was composed by RD Burman and directed by Shakti Samanta.

Holi ke din dil khil jaate hain (Sholay) – Who can miss the movie Sholay? The Jay-Veeru duo of Amitabh Bachchan stole the heart with their ardent friendship. The holi track from Sholay has always been a part of Holi celebrations over the years. The trio of Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra and Hema Malini were fantastic.

Rang barse (Silsila) – Rang Barse Bheege Chunar Wali…is a superhit Hindi track from the movie Silsila starring Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar and Rekha. Released in the year 1981, this song is in an evergeen hit from the 80’s. Who can forget the ‘angry young man’ at his best…quietly replacing India’s first superstar Rajesh Khanna as the new face of Bollywood.

Hum tere deewane hain (Mohabbetein) – Starring Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai, this song touched the heart of Indian audience in the year 2000 and was sung by Udit Narayan and Shweta Pandit.

Balam Pichkari (YJHD) – This energetic track from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is an instant hit track during holi, especially among the youngsters. This song is composed by Pritam and sung by Shalmali Kholgade and Vishal Dadlani. Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone make the best desi steps to enthrall the audience.

Apart from these songs, some other hit songs are: Holi khele raghuveera from Baghban starring the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, Do me a favour let’s play holi from Waqt starring Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra and the latest title track from the movie Badrinath ki Dulhaniya starring Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt.

    Kya iyo list hai..from where did hum tere diwane hai became holi song. Holi anthem is only Rang b...none nearby, followed by balam pichkari and hori khele ragubira awadh me, holi ke din sab mil jaate hai..and khai ke paan banaras wala khul jaye band akal ka tal.a.
