A new study has claimed that black men are twice as likely to suffer from prostate cancer as compared to white men.

The researchers said that it could help individuals better understand their risk of developing prostate cancer and help them make an informed decision about whether or not to have a prostate specific antigen test, the Mirror reported.

The study looked at both the lifetime risk of being diagnosed as well as dying from the disease for every major ethnic group.

According to the research, the estimated lifetime risk of being diagnosed with prostate cancer is approximately 29.3 percent for black men, 13.3 percent for white men and 7.9 percent for Asian men.

However, the research did not reveal why there is an increased risk of prostate cancer in black men.

The study is published in the journal BMC Medicine.

I just want to say that prostate cancer is racist and Obama should outlaw it. Maybe An affirmative action type thing, make sure more whites get that type of cancer, balance things out!

There are no races in our species... no genetic test for race... so this is based on self identification per Federal race guidelines? Junk science.

"However, the research did not reveal why there is an increased risk of prostate cancer in black men." One reason- African Americans typically have lower vitamin D levels due to their dark skin.

The research in Western Medicine never knows why. Everything leads to a new drug. Gee I wonder why?

Don't laugh. I am serious. It seems as if this data suggests a correlation between SIZE and prostate cancer.
