The pre-release Dear Zindagi collection prediction went awry. The talk was really big, but it got punctured quick. Now, here is what really happened at the turnstiles. Dear Zindagi opening day collections are Rs 8.75 crore. As such, the much-awaited Bollywood movie starring Shahrukh Khan and Alia Bhatt has made an average box-office collection on the first day of its release. With Rs 8.75 crore collected on release day, and a 45% occupancy rate in theatres across the country (as high as 60% in metros), the Gauri Shinde directorial movie, stands in 13th spot considering the collections of all Bollywood movies released in 2016. The overall Dear Zindagi collection prediction is now expected to be just above the Rs 50 cr mark. This will depend to a large extent on what kind of audience review that the movie receives.
The maximum box office collection by a Bollywood movie in 2016 was of Salman Khan starer ‘Sultan’, which collected Rs 36.54 crore, followed by the surprisingly successful ‘MS Dhoni-The Untold Story, with Opening Day collection Rs 21.3 crore and Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Fan’ which collected Rs 19.2 crore in its first day.
