The e-tail war is at its peak with majors Flipkart and Amazon trying to be the owner of the game. And now to beat Amazon India’s new endeavour of engaging US brands and added revenues, Flipkart will be coming up with another sale this month.
Flipkart’s Big Billion Sale wrapped up recently and there were news that the company’s sales spiked up without much marketing on their behaviour. Sales in categories like mobiles, fashion and electronics saw multiple jumps in sales.
The second sale is planned for October 25-28 and the Indian e-commerce major has high hopes pinned to it.
BS quoted Director of category design and management at Flipkart, Smrithi Ravichandran saying ”What we saw after Big Billion Days was a 30 per cent increase in our baseline, but on the 17th we saw a huge spike in terms of revenue units and traffic as well.”
He further credited bank offers and schemes such as gift cards that lures the customers to Flipkart. While a row was aroused after Amazon claimed that their festive sale was much more successful than Flipkart, Ravichandran said ”We don’t really have to do any chest-beating. If customers are coming despite us not doing too much of marketing and communication, that itself shows that Flipkart is the leader.”
