In a step to increase the efficiency of its buses and trucks, Eicher Volvo (VECV) has launched automatic manual transmission in select range of buses and trucks. As of now AMT technology was prevalent in the passenger vehicles. To start with VECV will provide AMT for the high end Skyline bus range and the Pro 3000 series of trucks.
According to Vinod Agarwal, CEO and managing director, VECV, this will increase the fuel efficiency of the BS vehicles that will be manufactured by the company along with the over all comfort of the passengers.“With the launch of the AMT the drivers wouldn’t need the clutch pedal and the gear shift pedal. Buses when it plies in the cities need a lot of gear shifting which creates a lot of inconvenience. The introduction of AMT vehicles will be beneficial for the vehicles with the BS 4 engine since those vehicles will be fitted with Electronic Engine,” added Agarwal.
