Apple just announced the launch of the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. While Apple launched the 10th-anniversary edition of the iPhone, the previous versions of the device have witnessed a massive price drop. Most e-commerce websites are selling the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S at huge discounts. Meanwhile, on Flipkart, you can buy the almost 3-year-old iPhone 6 for a price, as low as Rs 5,999. However, when it comes to offers like these, there is always a catch. The Rs 5,999 deal is valid on an exchange offer, which makes almost no sense as the biggest discounts are on premium smartphone replacements. However, the Apple iPhone 6 in itself is available for Rs 25,999 as Flipkart is also offering a special discount of Rs 3501.
When it comes to the exchange offer, there is no point, as Flipkart will give you the iPhone 6 at that price, if you exchange it with your iPhone 7 Plus, Samsung Galaxy S8 or similar flagship devices. The offer makes zero sense as to why would anyone exchange their premium smartphone with an old iPhone, especially when iPhone X is around the corner. This clearly means that the Rs 5,999 offer is misleading. We checked a few other brands, and the results are: Rs 3,150 off on Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Rs 9,500 off on Apple iPhone 6S, Rs 3,400 off on Huawei Honor 8 and so on. These offers can be availed in any other exchange offer, so the discount is not really much to speak about.
Meanwhile, when it comes to Apple iPhone 6S, there is a so called Rs 20,000 exchange offer on that too. So, technically the Rs 37,999 smartphone can be bought for Rs 17,999 only. But here too the problem is the same. The offer will only be valid if you exchange it with a premium and flagship mobile.
A better offer for Apple fans, especially in India, will be to buy the iPhone SE, which is available at Rs 26,000 for the 32GB variant and Rs 35000 for the 128GB model. Exchange offers are available on this phone as well.
Meanwhile, it should be noted that the iPhone X will come to India on November 3. It is priced at Rs 89,000 for the 64GB model and Rs 1,02,000 for the 256GB variant. Also, users will have the option to buy the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus from September 29. The price starts at Rs 64,000 and goes upto Rs 86,000.
