Yahoo’s upgraded messenger app has been launched on Windows and Mac desktops, said the tech giant in a blog post. The company launched the new Yahoo Messenger at the end of last year. The new platform is not only fast but it also provides an easy way to send and unsend messages, photos and animated GIFs. With the ‘drag and drop feature’ one can share multiple photos at once. “With Messenger’s desktop notifications, you can multitask at your computer without having to worry about missing an important message from family, friends, or coworkers again,” said Austin Shoemaker, Senior Director, Product Management.
The Yahoo Messenger desktop app is available for download on Windows and Mac. If you were still using the old Yahoo Messenger desktop app, it’s definitely time to upgrade, as the legacy service will be shut down on August 5.
Verizon on Monday announced that it will acquire Yahoo! Inc’s operating business for approximately $4.83 billion in case. The amount is subject to customary closing adjustments. According to Verizon, the transaction will create a new rival in mobile media technology. The addition of Yahoo to Verizon and AOL will create one of the largest portfolios of owned and partnered global brands with extensive distribution capabilities, said a Verizon press release. Combined, AOL and Yahoo will now have more than 25 brands.
