Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone maker, is all set to unveil its new device, the Redmi Pro at an event in Beijing on July 27. The phone is widely expected to boast of an OLED display. The launch has been confirmed by Xiaomi in a Weibo post. Teasers released by Xiaomi, show a chef cooking an “OLED PING,” a fact that suggests that the phone will feature an OLED display. OLED display may not be a new thing in the world of technology, but is a significant move for Xiaomi which has till now stuck to IPS LCD panels. The buzz that OLED display is likely to be used has sparked off speculation that the phone will be priced on the higher side.
Rumours are flying on what new features the smartphone will have. MediaTek MT6797M processor, 3GB RAM, 4GB RAM variant, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, 64 GB internal storage, 4,100mAh battery and a 13MP primary camera are some of the specifications that may make up the new smartphone. There are also reports that suggest that the phone may be equipped with a fingerprint scanner at the back. Such a feature already exists in the company’s Redmi Note 3. All Xiaomi smartphones tend to create a huge buzz in the technology world. Xiaomi has widely seen as a company that ate a share of Apple’s smartphone market in China.
The smartphone maker’s phones also find a huge fan base in India. Some experts are of the opinion that Xiaomi’s attempt to provide premium features at affordable prices works in its favour.
