Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has launched its brand new budget smartphone, Xiaomi Redmi 4A in India today and has been priced at Rs 5,999. After the launch of the hugely popular Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, the company has launched its second big phone in the country in 2017. The Redmi 4A which launched in China in November 2016 and is a successor to the Redmi 3. Even the Redmi 4 was launched in China at the same time and is priced at CNY 699 (around Rs. 7,000). Meanwhile, the Redmi 4A was announced at with the price tag of CNY 499 (around Rs. 5,000) but currently, the phone is priced higher at CNY 599 (around Rs. 6,000).
On the specifications front, Redmi 4A features a 5-inch IPS LCD screen along with HD resolution (720 x 1280 pixels) and has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor along with 2GB RAM and an internal storage of 16GB. There is also an option of using a microSD in the slot provide. The Redmi 4A has a 13-megapixel camera at the back and 5-megapixel front shooter. The new smartphone by Xiaomi has a 3120 mAh battery and runs Android Marshmallow along with the company’s own MIUI 8 on top.
Xiaomi Redmi 4A will be sold as an Amazon exclusive smartphone, as confirmed by the company. Amazon India has also started to accept registrations for the regular notifications on the all new Redmi smartphone. The price and availability details of the smartphone in India has not be informed by Xiaomi as of now. The phone was launched in India, in New Delhi, by VP of Xiaomi India Manu Jain, and Product Lead Jai Mani.
Recently, Xiaomi reportedly said it plans to ramp up its offline distribution channel in India and has set the target of around 25 per cent of its turnover from this segment. Right now, the company, that crossed the $ 1 billion revenue mark in the country in 2016, is selling its smartphones through 8,500 multi-brand outlets across the country.
