Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi has launched a new Redmi 3S smartphone in China, with a base price of CNY 699 ($106). However, there is no announcement on global launch of the device. The new smartphone sports a five-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) IPS display and operates on MIUI 7 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
The device also features a 13-megapixel rear camera powered with PDAF (phase detection autofocus). The secondary camera is five-megapixel with 1080p video recording capability.
The new phone will be offered in two memory versions. The basic version comes 2GB RAM, plus 16GB of expandable storage.
The faster, 3GB RAM plus 32GB variant, will go for CNY 899 ($136). The announcement comes just after its competitor Meizu’s update of the Meizu m3s.
The phone is available in grey, silver, and gold colour variants. However, it should be noted that if the device reaches in international markets, it may cost a bit extra.
