Redmi 2 is now available at Rs 5,999 after Xiaomi deducted the price by Rs 1,000. This announcement was made on Tuesday morning by Redmi India on social networking site Twitter. The smartphone can be bought from Xiaomi website www.mi.com/in.
On Sunday evening, Redmi India tweeted an image along with text reading, “Paint the town red. Get ready to change your phone.” The image, which was partially visible, had already given the clue about the price.

Redmi 2 can also be bought for Rs 3,999 under the exchange program of Flipkart.

Xiaomi Redmi 2 is powered by 64-bit Quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 processor and has 1GB RAM and a 2200mAh battery. The smartphone comes with Android 4.4-based MIUI 6 operating system and features 8MP rear camera and 2 MP front camera with selfie timer.
Earlier on Sunday, Xiaomi India also announced a price-cut of Rs 2,000 on Redmi Note 4G, following which the smartphone costs Rs 7,999.
Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain also informed that 16,000 mAh Mi Power Bank, which was also on sale, went out of stock within seconds. However, sale of 5,000 mAh Mi Power Bank is still on.
