Sony has launched its latest flagship smartphone, Xperia XZ1 in India. With the new device, Sony plans to take on premium smartphones like the Apple iPhone 8 series and Galaxy Note 8. However, unlike these smartphones, Sony Xperia XZ1 is priced much lower at Rs 44,990. This also puts it in direct competition with mid-high range phones like the OnePlus 5. The Sony mobile will go on sale in India from today. Interested buyers can purchase the smartphone via online as well as offline channels.
When it comes to the Xperia XZ1 specifications, Sony has given it a 5.2-inch 1080p IPS display. It is powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor. In terms of storage, there is a 4GB RAM with 64GB storage expandable using a microSD card slot. Interestingly, there is no bezel-less display on this phone. The smartphone features a 19MP camera at the back and a 13MP selfie camera. The Sony is fueled by a 2700 mAh battery and it can last a full day according to the company. But the most notable thing is that it is the first smartphone to come with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. Android Oreo is the latest OS by Google, for Android smartphones. The Xperia XZ1 belongs to a rare breed of the device with is compatible with Netflix HDR.
Another feature which Sony is focusing on with Sony Xperia XZ1 is the 3D scanning feature. This feature enables you to click pictures of anything and then have a 3D model made automatically. It can be used with 3D printers to get high-quality 3D scans.
Sony has not been in the limelight for a long time now because of the dismal sales figures. However, with all the new technology and innovations, the Japanese company seems to get a new lease of life. The Sony Xperia XZ1’s price in India is Rs 44,990. This gives it an edge over other rival manufacturers, as both Apple iPhone 8, 8 Plus, X, as well as Samsung Galaxy Note 8, have been priced much higher.
