Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus is expected to launch its new flagship smartphone in the summer of 2017, and it will be called as OnePlus 5. Before the supposed launch in a hugely popular series, we have witnessed several leaks around the smartphone. According to a new leak on Weibo, the device will have a horizontal dual rear camera setup. This new rumour has triggered more confusion around this upcoming device. This is because, it directly contradicts an earlier report in Android Authority, which showed a OnePlus 5 prototype image which could come in a vertical alignment for the dual cameras and they could be the best ever found in a smartphone. However, the camera is not the only thing that has been making news for the OnePlus device.

The same Android Authority report has said that OnePlus 5 could also be a more expensive smartphone. This, the report claims, might be due to the component cost. The report has quoted a source as saying that the smartphone will have a ‘significantly higher price point due to components and design,’ and could even go as high as $650 (around Rs 42,000). This essentially means that OnePlus 5 may not be an affordable flagship anymore, which has been its forte. As a matter of fact, the phone will then be directly in competition with the flagship devices by bigger rivals in the market.

From OnePlus One to the latest OnePlus 3T, we have seen how the company has raised the price of its smartphones. However, the change has never been quite as dramatic as it is expected this time. The OnePlus 2 was launched in India at a price of Rs 24,999 for its 64GB storage model. While it is expected that the OnePlus 5 will see a drastic increase in pricing, a sudden jump into the premium league pricing could mean disappointment for a lot of fans. The company has usually focussed on the Rs 25,000 to Rs 35,000 price market, where it became popular as it delivered performance that is seen in premium devices.

According to a leak on Chinese website Weibo, OnePlus 5 will have 128GB storage along with 8GB RAM, Hydrogen OS on Android 7.1.2. AndroidPure had first shared a screenshot from the Weibo, which has posted the settings page of what it claims to be the OnePlus 5 smartphone. Whatever it is, it will be an interesting development in the smartphone market if OnePlus introduces 8GB RAM, since it was one of the first manufacturers to add the 6GB RAM in its devices when it had launched the OnePlus 3.

Additionally, according to a Weibo report, company CEO Pete Lau has claimed that the smartphone will come with ‘a big surprise’. Unlike the vertical dual camera at the back present on the Apple iPhone 7 Plus, OnePlus 5 could have them horizontally placed. Whether the phone goes for a camera setup like the Apple’s device with a wide-angle and a telephoto lens or it opts for a monochrome and RGB lens, remains to be seen.

Additionally, Kumamoto Technology on Weibo had claimed that the two rear cameras could be placed horizontally. Also, several rumours have been doing the rounds that a 23MP rear camera might be present in the OnePlus 5, but again that is not confirmed.

In terms of specifications, the OnePlus 5 might feature a ceramic body with 4,000mAh battery. Another report in Chinese publication PCPop claimed that OnePlus could come in an 8GB RAM model as well. The phone might also have a 16MP front camera, a 5.5-inch display ( Full HD (1080p) SAMOLED display we saw on the OnePlus 3 and 3T) and the Snapdragon 835 processor, according to various reports. The phone may not have the 2K display as the prices would increase by a big margin.

Meanwhile, Geekbench scores of the OnePlus 5 have been leaked online by GSMArena. The report has claimed that it got the screenshots from a ‘credible source’. If we consider the GSMArena report to be true and the images to be actual Geekbench results, OnePlus 5 has beaten Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones. Incidentally, the Samsung devices are at the top of the list on the ‘benchmark’.

All in all, if we consider most of the rumours and leaks to be true, the OnePlus 5 smartphone may just have the best display and camera in the segment.

One plus may be a good phone but it is a rotten company in regards with after s warranty and services. I have seen many people who had very bad experiences with the company over warranty issues and have personally also experienced it. Believe me once u have any issues with the phone then ur money spent is gone.
