OnePlus 5 smartphone is all set to launch on June 20. The Chinese smartphone maker has confirmed the launch in a tweet and said that the unveiling event will take place at 12 PM EDT, which is 9:30 PM IST. OnePlus has posted a teaser from its Twitter handle where it has put out the details of OnePlus 5 launch event. The picture comes with the tagline which says, “Focus on what matters.” The event will also be streamed live. Also, the company will host Pop-up events in New York, London, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Helsinki, Oulu, Tampere, Turku, and Copenhagen. OnePlus has provided all the details on its website. The phone will launch in India on June 22.
Before the launch of OnePlus 5 was imminent, we had witnessed a huge amount of rumours and speculations about the new ‘flagship killer’. Then, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau had shared some important details regarding the upcoming smartphone. OnePlus had confirmed that the phone will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 mobile platform. The Chinese tech giant has also partnered with DxO Labs to enhance OnePlus 5 camera experience. Meanwhile, the highlight of the OnePlus 5 smartphone will be a dual rear camera setup, and the tagline might just be a hint at a totally new camera technology for the device.
According to a new leak on Weibo, the device will have a horizontal dual rear camera setup. This new rumour has triggered more confusion around this upcoming device. This is because, it directly contradicts an earlier report in Android Authority, which showed a OnePlus 5 prototype image which could come in a vertical alignment for the dual cameras and they could be the best ever found in a smartphone
OnePlus 5 will be the thinnest flagship smartphone, Lau indicated in a Weibo post. The fingerprint scanner in OnePlus 5 will be on the front, and not at the back. Plus the company will not be ditching a headphone jack in OnePlus 5. OnePlus recently put out a poll asking users what the retail box of the OnePlus 5 should look like. In another tweet, OnePlus posted a tweet with four colour options – black, blue-green-purple mixture, red, and gold – asking users, which one should come on the next phone. Further, a low-light shot taken from OnePlus 5, next to another one taken from a different smartphone were shared by the company as well.

OnePlus 5 is expected to come with the same 5.5-inch full HD resolution display that we saw in company’s previous phone. The flagship device could come with either 6GB RAM or 8GB RAM version, though we will have to wait for an official announcement to know more. Leaks suggest that OnePlus 5 will be available in 64GB and 128GB storage options, and you can expect a bigger 3600 mAh battery along with support for company’s Dash Charge 2.0 technology.
