Three Nokia smartphones, Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 have launched in India. While the Nokia 3 is priced at Rs 9,499, the Nokia 5 comes with a price tag of Rs 12,899. While both these smartphones will be sold as offline exclusive devices, the Nokia 6 will be sold on Amazon. The Nokia 6 is the most premium smartphone that the company has launched in India, and it is priced at Rs 14,999. HMD Globa, which now makes the smartphones under Nokia brand, has decided to hit the market with the devices on different dates. Nokia 6 will start selling on Amazon India website from July 14. The company has launched an introductory offer where there is a Rs 1,000 cashback for Amazon Pay users. All Nokia 6 customers will also get 80 percent discount on Kindle e-books worth up to Rs 300. But the question is, will Nokia rise above its nostalgia rhetoric and be able to stack up against major rivals in its segment? Here’s a look at how the Nokia 6 smartphones compare with Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Lenovo Z2 Plus and Moto G5 Plus.
NOKIA 6: Nokia 6 sports a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display, metal unibody design. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage (expandable to 128GB). Nokia 6 with 4GB RAM + 64GB variant is not coming to India. Nokia 6 sports a 16MP rear camera with f/2 aperture and dual tone flash. The front camera is 8MP with autofocus, f/2 aperture, and 84 degrees field of view. Nokia 6 is backed by a 3000 mAh battery. It supports WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1 and supports USB on-the-go as well. The smartphone has a fingerprint scanner on the front.
Price: Nokia 6 is priced at Rs 14,999.
XIAOMI REDMI NOTE 4: Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 comes with a massive 4100 mAh battery and the company claimed it to be 25 percent better than the erstwhile Redmi Note 3. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, which uses the new 14nm FinFET technology. Apart from the metal build of the handset, the novel feature that the Redmi Note 4 has is that it supports USB Type-C port. It is Xiaomi’s first smartphone to have the new reversible slot. The new smartphone runs Xiaomi’s latest MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is powered by a deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 coupled with Mali-T880 MP4 GPU, which is expected to improve performance and reduce battery consumption. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 has a display of 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) with 2.5D curved glass and 401ppi pixel density. Both the variants of the storage capacity of 2GB and 3GB RAM models can have expandable storage via microSD card (maximum of 128GB). With the feature of PDAF (phase detection autofocus), the phone has a 13-megapixel rear camera and the option of f/2.0 aperture. It can record 1080p videos at 30fps. The front camera of 5-megapixels, which according to Xiaomi, can click wide angle shots extended to 85-degrees.
Price: The 3GB RAM (32 GB storage) comes with a price tag of Rs 10,999. The 4GB RAM (64GB Storage) variant comes at Rs 12,999.
LENOVO Z2 PLUS: The Lenovo Z2 Plus model has a 5-inch full-HD display along with 2.5D curved glass design. Z2 Plus is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and is available in India in two storage options, 3GB RAM with 32GB storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage. The device was also the cheapest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 powered smartphone at that time. The frame of the smartphone is made of fibreglass which essentially means that it is a light and strong device. The home button of the device also acts as a fingerprint scanner. The phone contains a 13MP primary camera along with f/2.2 aperture. The smartphone uses a bigger 1.34-micron image sensor which enables it to capture more light in a dimly lit area. An 8MP selfie camera with electronic image stabilisation is also present in the device.
Price: The 32 GB model of the smartphone was earlier priced at Rs 17,999 but will now cost you Rs 14,999.
MOTO G5 PLUS: Motorola has introduced the metal unibody design in the Moto G5 Plus for the first time in the G series. The device also features the popular Google Assistant which was first available only on Google’s Pixel devices. Moto G5 Plus features a 5.2-inch FHD display and runs Android Nougat with Motorola’s software integrations over the top. This includes the Moto Display and Moto Actions. The phone has a Snapdragon 625 processor with 2GB/3GB/4GB RAM options based on the region, and 32GB/64GB of internal memory.We will have to wait and watch to know which model is unveiled in India. The Moto G5 Plus has microSD card support as well. Moto G5 Plus features a 12MP rear-facing camera with phase detection autofocus (PDAF), 1.4µm pixels, an aperture of f/1.7 and a dual-LED flash. The Moto G5 Plus can shoot 4K videos. It is backed by a 3,000mAh battery. Moto G5 Plus has a fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button.
Price: Motorola G5 Plus 3GB RAM variant comes for a price of Rs 14,999 while the 4GB RAM version is priced at Rs 16,999.
