Do you know that Micromax also makes TVs? Do not be surprised but with its LED TV range, the homegrown mobile phone maker is making a serious attempt to carve a niche for itself in the fast-growing entertainment market, largely dominated by the Korean and Japanese brands.
Recently, the company sent us its 127 cm (50-inch) LED TV (50B5000FHD) for a product evaluation. It retails for an affordable R39,990 and here are my first impressions.
Whenever one gets a TV for review purpose, the first challenge is where to install it. Especially in a traditional Sony household like mine, I faced stiff resistance when I suggested that the new
Micromax TV be installed in the TV room. Anyways, I found place for it on a sparingly used sideboard and believe me, it is a kind of television that a room full of viewers can enjoy, yet it won’t overwhelm your space. It comes equipped with new technology to give you a home theatre effect with great sound experience. Also, you can play your movies on the wide screen of this full high definition.
In terms of styling, the Micromax TV looks pretty good with smaller borders and a slim profile. It employs a unique audio visual entertainment architecture, which will enable viewers to enjoy a wholesome audio visual experience. A viewer will get enhanced audio output and life-like videos and images delivered on the full HD screen. Don’t get me wrong but you’ll almost get a decent home-theatre like sound experience which is unmatched in this price range!
The TV’s 50-inch dot LED screen makes you to feel full HD entertainment and you can feel all things come alive on this display having 1920 x 1080 resolution with dynamic contrast ratio of 300000:1. That is not all. The audio visual entertainment architecture ensures that Micromax LED TV has ultra-low power consumption. Typical usage power consumption is 95 Watts and standby consumption is less than 1 Watt.
Some of the key features: there’s a full HD screen with 1920 x 1080 resolution, Zero Dot LED Panel, dynamic contrast ratio of 300000:1, SRS surround system, 2 HDMI (high definition multimedia interface) and 2 USB ports on the connectivity front and support for an external speaker system.
Two USB ports are given to connect your USB device to play movies and videos.
Also, you can connect your devices via its HDMI cable to access files.
Picture quality-wise, the Micromax LED TV is quite good. It has great contrast ratio and it doesn’t reflect a lot of light. It is great for movies or
TV shows. In addition, its zero bright Dots LED panel ensures good picture clarity that is far ahead of the rest. It isn’t without downsides, though. There is a loss of colour when you view it from an angle. However, such little issues shouldn’t stop you from buying it. For the price, you can’t really get a better all-around picture quality than this. Simply put, I’ll be surprised if any TV released in recent months offers a better combination of price and picture quality than this Micromax innovation.
If you are in the market for a high quality LED TV but with a limited budget, then you simply have to consider the Micromax 50B5000FHD. Its picture quality is brilliant, its features are extensive and it even manages to sound good despite its slender frame.
