Technology giant Samsung has confirmed that their flagship product Samsung Galaxy S9 and Samsung Galaxy S9+ will be launched at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) to be held in Barcelona from February 26 to March 1, 2018. The Samsung S series phone will go on sale in late March or early April as has been the company’s custom. However, details about the phone written behind a retail box has been spotted on Reddit. The box reveals ample amount of information about the hardware of the soon to be launched phone like camera resolution, screen size and other features. The Samsung Galaxy S9 is equipped with ‘Super Speed’ camera with stereo speakers tuned by AKG. Samsung, last year provided AKG tuned earbuds with the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+ mobile series. AKG owned by Harman, now bought by Samsung.
The Galaxy S9 is said to have 5.8-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display with rounded corners, a curved glass feature retained from Samsung Galaxy S8. According to reports, the phone might also have Infinity Display with glass and metal design. The box also mentions that Galaxy S9 will have 8-megapixel AF selfie camera and will get a regular 12-megapixel rear lens at the back. The rear camera will support OIS (optical image stabilisation), super slow motion and two different apertures (F1.5 and F2.4). Samsung’s focus clearly seems to be on delivering best picture suited to the environment as dual aperture will help in picking the best possible image.
The phone will also be IP68 water and dust resistant, will have iris scanner, 64GB memory and 4GB RAM. According to media reports, it is rumoured that S9 will have improved iris scanner and upgraded bezel-less Infinity Display panels. Also, the phone’s ‘Plus’ version may have bigger screen size (6.2-inch screen) and will have 6GB RAM with 64GB, 128GB and 256GB variant memory options with reports suggesting upgrade up to 512GB. According to leaks, S9+ may have dual rear camera. It is also known that the new phone will sport new processors with Snapdragon 845 from Qualcomm and will also have Samsung’s latest unveiled Exynos 9810.
Besides S9, Samsung’s boss DJ Koh has reportedly said that Samsung will launch the next version of the much criticised Bixby voice assistant and has also plans to launch its much-talked about ‘foldable’ phone sometime next year.
