Reliance Jio Phone has finally started getting delivered and if you are staying in a rural area chances are you will get it first. The Jio Phone costs Rs 1500 which the company said will be refunded after a period of 3 years. But is that the actual amount you have to pay? Reliance Jio has just released a list of terms and conditions on its website, and according to one clause, users may have to pay much more than just Rs 1500. Also, if you decide not to pay so much, you may not get the refund after 3 years.

According to Reliance Jio Phone terms and conditions for a refund, you will have to spend a minimum of Rs 4,500 if you wish to get back your Rs 1500. It is interesting to note that such a huge piece of information was not revealed when Mukesh Ambani launched the Jio Phone in April this year. At that time, Reliance said that the Jio Phone is “effectively free” as the paid amount will be refunded. During that time, the company did not put out any kind of condition on the device, on the price, or on the refund. However, we expected some information to be revealed right before the rollout of the Jio Phone.

Now that Reliance has started the delivery of the Jio mobiles, it has posted several conditions on its website. One of the points indicates that users who wish to return the feature phone before the scheduled end of 3 years, they have options for that too. Like we already said, if you actually want to keep the mobile and keep using it, you will have to purchase recharges on the Jio number with at least Rs 1,500 per year. Interestingly, if you want to keep the Jio Phone and not want to use it after some time, Reliance says that it has the right to take it back.

I bought the Jio Phone. But I don’t want to use it. What do I do? According to the return policy, Reliance has all the right to take the device back. If you wish to return it before the scheduled period by yourself, Reliance Jio offers options for that. If you return it between 12 to 24 months, you will get Rs 500 back. If you do so between 24-36 months, you will be refunded Rs 1000. But if you want to return it before 1 year, you will get no refund from Reliance Jio.

I bought the Jio Phone. How much do I have to pay now? Reliance in the post, says: “The Jio Phone is available for continued use on the Recipient purchasing telecom recharge vouchers of an Authorised Carrier (presently Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited) from the Company or any of its authorised retailers for use in the Jio Phone of a minimum value of Rs 1,500/- per annum for a period of 3 years from the date of the first issue of the Jio Phone.” So, Rs 1,500 for 3 years mean Rs 4,500 in total.

I bought Jio . Now I can't sell it to others. Anyone blocking me from sharing my Internet, he is the first enemy of me. Now Ambani is the only piece of I hate in this world. Can't share my JIO PHONE Internet to my other devices.

This company has identified the people who looted the public. After JIO entry, My monthly Rs800/- for voice and SMS and Rs,500/- for data bills have come down to Rs.110/- per month. People will be prepard to pay Rs.150/- per month, previously they were loading Rs.50 to 90, per month, now they will pay something more. We welcome Jio. Let the other fellows die. (It is interesting to note that such a huge piece of information was not revealed when Mukesh Ambani launched the Jio Phone in April this year.) This line, I never expected from Financial Express. You are saying that JIO has not revealed this at the time of launching the scheme. Why you are not questioning the others, who were giving the services at higher cost, they were lauded by the media. You are also accepting that you are not aware that they are looting the public.
