Huawei entering Indian Wi-Fi router market, eyes 40 pct market share within year

Chinese technology major Huawei is entering the consumer broadband networking segment is India with a range of devices aimed at homes and SOHO customers. The company aimed to offers something for every use case and within a price range of Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,500.

P Sanjeev, Director Sales (Devices Business), Huawei Telecommunications told IndianExpress.com that the company had an ambitious target of 40 per cent of the market in a year. “With this we now have a total broadband offering considering that we are already leaders in the dongle market. We are sure our presence in the dongle segment will let us enter the Wi-Fi space easily,” he said, adding that the company has already sold over 30 million devices in the India, mostly through the telecom service providers.

From next week the new devices will be available online as well as offline. “We will be in the top 11 urban clusters of the country from next week. We will offer a couple of Wi-Fi extenders and two powerful WiFi routers. A fifth model, aimed at SOHO consumers and with high-end specifications will be launched later,” he added.
