Home-grown e-commerce company Flipkart expects a five times increase in number of transactions on its platform during the Big10 sale. The Big10 sale will be held from May 14 till May 18, to celebrate the company’s 10 years of operations in India. “Smartphones, fashion and large appliances are our high-focus categories. Apart from our top categories, we expect several of our other categories such as home and kitchen, consumer electronics to see an increased demand from customers,” said Anil Goteti, head of marketplace, Flipkart.

The e-tailer claims that for the forthcoming sale there has been a 70% increase in selection across categories as compared to the Big Billion Days sale last year. Moreover, discounts of upto 90% will be offered across all top brands and under all categories. “We have exclusive partnerships with brands in fashion, smartphones, consumer electronics and durables and home,” explained Goteti.

At the same time, the e-tailer which has segregated its sellers under the three segments – Gold, Silver and Bronze – depending on the sales and the customer experience – claims to have created an elaborate plan to engage with sellers on an individual basis. As per Flipkart, a joint planning was done with sellers on all aspects starting three months prior to the sale to chart out best offers for the products during the sale days.

According to Goteti, sellers were assisted with inventory planning to prepare for the sale to ensure the listing of quality products and sufficient stocks. “We also conducted seller events in multiple cities across India such as Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Mumbai, Kolkata which saw seller attendance,” he added.

Special training sessions were conducted for sellers through multiple webinars throughout the month of April which were attended by close to 2,000 sellers, claims the e-tailer. Besides, a 24-hour seller support team has been build, which will be made available for sellers all through the 5-day sale period.

The company has also scaled up its ‘Express Program’ for faster delivery of products. At present more than 53% of Flipkart marketplace listings are currently under the ‘Express Program’ covering over 1.5 crore products.

Lastly, it has beefed up its smart fulfillment programme to ensure sellers have maximum inventory made available to them for the sale. The programme has recently onboarded 250 sellers for the programme.
