Google Pixel, the highly anticipated smartphone is finally here. Google has launched the brand new smartphone called Pixel, designed entirely by the company and also with the tag ‘Made by Google’. Google seems to have a policy that if one wants something to be done right, one has to do it by itself. This phone by Google is its attempt to showcase what its vision for Android is, after long been overseeing Nexus smartphones which used to run the stock version of the operating system. Pixel and Pixel XL will be the first smartphones which will have the Google Assistant, the voice controlled AI system which uses Google’s amazingly vast knowledge database to help the user in all possible ways. As Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that there will be a Google for every person now, instead of one for everybody.

Apart from these smartphones will have many software integrations to its services, like Daydream and Google Photos. The Daydream is a virtual reality simulator, and the Google Photos is amazingly great at recognising and collecting pictures. These smartphones by Google will have the latest Android Nougat 7.1, and will always get the latest updates of the operating system and also security features. Now, when compared to other smartphones in its range, one has to understand that, with the advancement of technology, the gap between them is very thin when it comes to pure specifications. Yet, when it comes to unique features, that is what differentiates these smartphones.

All the phones in this range including the Pixel and the iPhone, are able to click great pictures and run the apps pretty smoothly, but as of now, Google which has been a technology major for a long time, has complete control over both its software and hardware. So, if that reason alone is enough to make the Pixel a superior phone than iPhone, remains to be seen. As of now, let’s look at the specifications and the difference between them if at all that is a mode of differentiation.

Display

When it comes to the size of the display panel, they are pretty much the same. While the iPhone 7 has a 4.7-inch display the Pixel smartphone is slightly bigger at 5-inches. Both the iPhone 7 Plus and Pixel XL have a 5.5-inch screen.

Resolution:

Google has named its smartphone as Pixel for a reason. There is a huge amount of difference between the resolutions of these phones. While the iPhone 7 has a decent 1334 x 750 pixels, the Pixel phone has 1920 x 1080 pixels, which is the same as iPhone 7 Plus. But the Pixel XL has an impressive resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.

Processor

Both the processors are the most powerful ones in the market available right now. While both the iPhone 7s have the A10 Fusion processor, Pixel introduces the super fast Snapdragon 821 processor.

RAM

Apple has made no announcement of the RAM in its smartphones, Google has the 4GB RAM in its smartphones.

Storage

When it comes to storage options, both the smartphones have done away with the 16GB variants of their phones. While the iPhone 7s come in the 32GB, 128GB and 256GB variant, the Pixel phones have still not launched the 256GB variant. Yet, with the smooth integration of Google’s hardware and software, the cloud services will come into play as they started with the ‘unlimited storage’ idea during the presentation.

Camera

This is a favourite. Both the smartphones have super cameras, competing it out against each other. The iPhone 7 has a 12 MP rear camera and a 7 MP front camera. The iPhone 7 Plus has introduced the system of two rear cameras, both of them 12MP, and also a front camera of 7 megapixels. Google Pixel, on the other hand, have the 12.3 MP rear camera and 8 MP camera in the front. An undoubtedly both of them are able to click great pictures, because of tonnes of features integrated into these cameras.

The Pixel has a 2,770mAH battery and Pixel XL has a 3,450 mAH battery, which might look a lot less than expected, yet it has a new feature called fast charging. As the name suggests, these phones charge at superfast speeds.

Price

The price of both these phones starts at similar prices. While the iPhone 7 and Pixel pricing starts at $649, the iPhone 7 Plus and Pixel XL pricing starts at $769.
