After the Apple iPhone X launch, it is now Google’s turn to set sight on the premium user with its next gen Pixel smartphones. The tech giant has announced the launch date of its new flagship smartphone Google Pixel 2. The smartphone will be launched on October 4. As a new marketing strategy the Mountain View company has launched a campaign that urges viewers to “ask more.” The new landing page is part of the madeby.google.com subdomain, and it carries the teasing tagline of “thinking about changing phones?” Google has launched a teaser video which asks its viewers rhetorical questions like, What’s wrong with my phone’s battery? Why is my phone always out of storage? Why does my phone take so many blurry photos? Why doesn’t my phone understand me? Why can’t my phone update itself? Why is my smartphone so slow / hot / fragile / annoying / broken / cruel / impersonal / dumb?
As per the IBtimes report, the new Google Pixel 2 will be manufactured by HTC whereas Pixel 2 XL is expected to be launched by LG and will feature an improved design that should put Google on par with the bezel-less devices launched by Samsung (the Galaxy S8 and Note 8), LG (with its V30), and Apple (with the iPhone X).
As per IBtimes report, Pixel XL 2 is said to sport a 5.99-inch QHD (2560x1440p) OLED display (made by LG) with thin bezel design language and boast AOD (Always-On-Display) feature. On the back, it is expected flaunt a dual-tone glass and metal finish similar to the 2016-series models. Also, the flagship smartphone will house 4GB RAM, 64GB/128GB storage, and a 3,000 (or more) mAh battery. Pixel 2 will also feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor and Android Oreo. Rumours are rife that Google has decided to keep a single primary camera on the back with dual-tone LED flash, EIS (Electronics Image Stabilisation) for enhanced low-light images.
Meanwhile, Google Pixel 2 will sport 4.97-inch display and is also expected to have an almost identical design language as the last year’s generic 5-inch Pixel phone. But, the successor might be devoid of a 3.5mm audio jack port, as Google intends to use the additional space for stereo speakers. Also, is expected to sport a full-HD display (1920x1080p) with AOD feature and come with 4 GB RAM and 64GB storage. Furthermore, Google Pixel 2 series customer is guaranteed to get a lifetime of unlimited cloud storage for the photos, the report added.
