OnePlus 5 is scheduled to launch on June 20 and in India, it will arrive on June 22. Meanwhile, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has posted the first official image of the phone. The picture that OnePlus has shared, provides a better look at the OnePlus 5’s new dual rear camera setup. Finally, we know that there will be a horizontal camera setup. The rumours regarding the flagship device’s camera had created a lot of confusion earlier. However, the post by OnePlus appears to confirm many design leaks that we have been witnessing around the OnePlus 5. It is clear that the company’s main focus this time is the camera in the new flagship killer. OnePlus had tweeted the image along with the tagline: ‘Dual Camera. Clearer Photos.’ OnePlus had gone on to tie up with DxOMark to give its users one of the best cameras in the smartphone market. We will have to wait and watch to know it the phone actually lives upto the expectations.
Meanwhile, the tweet also had a link to a landing page for the OnePlus 5 launch in India. The company will launch the phone in Mumbai and is giving out official invites for it. OnePlus has also announced a contest where you can win the new OnePlus 5 smartphone. The website asks its users to send an SMS alert to watch the OnePlus 5 launch live on June 20. Users can request the alert to be sent till June 20. 5 winners of the contest will get a OnePlus 5 and all the names will be announced on Facebook on June 30. OnePlus is providing the invites to their Mumbai event for Rs 999, and it will open from June 12. If you sign up for the event, you will get a launch T-shirt and a welcome pack which is worth Rs 10,000. This Welcome Pack comprises of OnePlus travel backpack worth Rs 3,990, OnePlus sunglasses worth Rs 6000, and a OnePlus voucher worth Rs 999, which will be credited to the OnePlus account. It has to be used in three days for the purchase of OnePlus 5.
OnePlus will also give event invite holders a special code to help them buy the OnePlus 5. Now OnePlus did away with the invite system in the past for purchasing its phones, it looks like this code might just give some users early access. If the company brings back the invite system for its new flagship, that won’t go down well with fans.
OnePlus 5 will come with the Snapdragon 835 processor, and there’s 8GB RAM on board as well, which was revealed thanks to the Amazon India page source code. OnePlus 5 will go on sale on Amazon India at 4.30 pm on June 22, and will feature a dual rear camera, 5.5-inch full HD display, 64/128GB storage, and possibly a bigger 3600 mAh battery.
