Coolpad has launched a new smartphone Cool Play 6 in the mid budget segment in India. This segment is already occupied by major players like Xiaomi, Lenovo, Vivo and Oppo. However, Coolpad’s aggressive pricing strategy has always worked out for the company. With the upcoming festive season, Coolpad’s move to bring a dual camera smartphone in the market might work wonders for the company, even in the presence of the newly launched Lenovo K8 Note and the popular Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. CoolPad Cool Play 6 was just launched and the smartphone comes with 6GB RAM and a 4060 mAh battery. The phone will be sold at a price of Rs 14,999 in India. Meanwhile, Lenovo K8 Note was recently revealed and this smartphone also offers dual cameras and a big 4000 mAh battery. The 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant of Lenovo K8 Note have been priced at Rs 12,999. The 4GB RAM and 64 GB storage model comes with a price tag of Rs 13,999. Can these smartphones compete with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4?
Coolpad Cool Play 6 specs and features: Coolpad Cool Play sports a metal unibody design, which looks stylish. The back houses vertically-aligned dual rear cameras in the centre with dual LED flash placed on the right of the camera lenses. The phone features a 5.5-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The screen is good to look at and icons appear sharp. The device gets dual rear cameras (13MP+13MP) cameras at the back, where one lens is monochrome, while the other can capture pictures in RGB. Coolpad Cool Play 6 offers a Night mode for the rear camera to click pictures in places where there’s lack of ample light.
Coming to the bokeh mode, it is quite nice to shoot pictures where you want the subject to be in focus. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon octa-core 653 processor, the Cool Play 6 relies on Adreno 510 GPU for graphic performance. Coolpad Cool Play 6 runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat with company’s Cool UI 7 skin on top.
Lenovo K8 Note specs and features: Lenovo K8 Note has a dual camera setup. The smartphone’s main camera features a 13MP sensor while the secondary camera has a 5MP sensor. This system lets its users click DSLR like images, with a focus on the foreground and a blurred background.
The Lenovo K8 Note features a ten-core MediaTek Helio-X23 processor clocked at 2.3Ghz. The phone features a 5.5-inch full HD display. The Lenovo K8 Note runs on stock Android 7.1.1.
Final verdict: While Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is a popular smartphone for a reason, Lenovo has played a smart game by announcing a few popular features which are not there on the Redmi Note 4. Similarly, Coolpad Cool Play 6 looks like a great deal at Rs 14,999 especially when you look at specifications on paper. The closest competitor to Cool Play 6 right now is Lenovo K8 Note itself. However, will it be enough to lure in more buyers, is a good question. But with dual cameras, both Lenovo K8 Note and Cool Play 6 have an edge. Additionally, the Lenovo device has a pure Android software. Both the smartphones will surely challenge the Redmi Note 4.
