Style and fitness go hand-in-hand when we talk of today’s women; they are more health-conscious and aware of their fitness levels. To appeal to these health-conscious consumers, Japanese electronics major Casio has introduced its first fitness watch, Baby-G BGA-240 , under the Runners’ Collection for fitness seeking women. Casio is one of those brands that everyone has, at some point in their lives, sported on their wrist. So, when Casio told us it was going to send us one of their new watches for a product evaluation, we were excited to explore their cool new gadget.
The watch comes in four colour variants—black and white (BGA-240-7A and BGA-240-1A1), black and green (BGA-240-1A2) and bright pink (BGA-240-4A)—and is available for Rs 5,995. We got the Pink variant for a review; not only does it look cool, it also has function as well as form—activity tracker, water resistance and three different alarms.
The new running-inspired collection by Casio appreciates the sportsman spirit in young women and their ability to flow with the day-to-day tasks. This series features a fitness tracker with sturdy design, which is a good amalgamation of utility and style with a more sophisticated look for active girls.
The Baby-G BGA-240 has been designed with a punching pattern and colours that match today’s sportswear. The Pink watch looks vibrant in bright summer, it is sporty and you can’t help but smile with this on your wrist. Weighing just 41g, the watch features a round dial with hour markers that are designed for ease of reading during the run.
The comfortable resin band has a protector which enhances the fit to the wrist, which lets you wear the watch for a longer span without any discomfort. The band is punched with holes creating a motif that resembles todays sports fashion items. It also allows air to pass through for cooling while engaged in activities. The inside of the band has a protector that enhances the fit to the wrist.
What’s really impressive about this watch is what Casio manages to pack into them. For instance, the digital display shows the lap times (time taken to complete a fixed distance) and split times (elapsed time from the start up to a certain point)—which could be actively used during the run, to set target time and to control pace. Moreover, shock-resistant construction protects against impact and vibration.

Then, a light-emitting diode (LED) is used to illuminate the watch face, including the feature of an Auto Light Switch that illuminates the display when the watch is angled towards the face. A luminous coating provides long-term illumination in the dark after only a short exposure to light.
Probing further, the Baby-G watch features a 100-meter water resistance, dual time, countdown timer range of 1 minute to 24 hours, LED light with selectable illumination duration and afterglow. A dual time watch can display time in two different time zones and is a favoured choice for many international business professionals as well as globe-trotters. Furthermore, the watch has three multi-function alarms with one snooze alarm along with hourly time signal. It also comes with full auto-calendar (to year 2099 along with three years of battery life.
In summary, the Baby-G BGA-240 is a good watch for women on the move.
