The entry of Reliance Jio into the Indian telecom market has triggered a pricing war among the telecom players. The incumbent telecom operators are launching new plans almost every day to protect their subscribers from switching sides and become a Reliance Jio customer. Even operators like BSNL which is a state-owned telecom company has not kept itself away from the competition. In its latest bid to compete with Reliance Jio’s offering, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) rolled out a voice and data plan for Rs 429. The new plan offers unlimited voice and 1GB data per day for 90 days for its prepaid subscribers. The plan has been launched to compete with Jio’s Rs 399 plan.

“This Voice & Data Centric Plan is available for Rs. 429/ ie Rs. 143/ per month which gives unlimited voice (Local/STD) on any net and 90 GB data ( @ 1 GB per day) for 90 days, which is the most competitive plan in present market scenario,” said R.K.Mittal, Director (CM) BSNL, in a press statement, according to the Indian Express report.
Meanwhile, the state-owned telecom company has also launched some special vouchers which will offer its users to lower call rates to 15 paise per minute. As per NDTV report, BSNL said that its STV (Special Tariff Voucher) of Rs. 8 will lower the BSNL-to-BSNL call rate to 15 paise per minute for 30 days from the date of recharge. BSNL’s latest STVs also offer lower rates for off-net calls – calls made from BSNL to other networks. The STV priced at Rs. 8 will reduce off-net call costs to 35 paise per minute.

No mean of such existing offer if your network coverage not good . BSNL should work on network coverage first

BSNL may give one GB or three GB data per day, but it is of no use. The internet speed is miserably low. So slow that your gadget says: you are have not been able to use up even one tenth of the daily alottted quota of data. Please give us the speed.

not aware to interpret E.D data for proper market viewing n.d share.. i guess online arena can be !continued.. wen a fuzz! can be maintained(things not falling in same line/some surprises preserved), even recorded are enough to re-create.. but state players entry can be manipulated for any desirable! results.. a measure of exchange is good .. better as seen for real! is a dynamic reserve for the further !! ..tc..

This is fine. If entry of Reliance Jio has compelled other telecom service providers to wake up and offer compe ive tariffs, that is a great development for all customers of telecom services. I see two problem areas here. First, BSNL announces new tariff plans for mobile phones but full information about these plans is not always available with retailers . If customers approach these retailers they ( retailers) are not able to give information about new plans. Another problem is that BSNL has been ignoring interests of landline subscribers who wish that they too should be offered broadband service at compe ive rates and that wifi facility should be available to these landline subscribers, so that they can avail of internet through landline and wifi.
