It is unclear whether this smartphone from Apple is going to happen or not, but some of the latest leaks have shed some light of its existence. The second generation of Apple iPhone SE has been a rumor until now, but a new report from China suggests that the tech giant may be planning to launch the iPhone SE 2 at the Apple WWDC (Apple Worldwide Developers Conference). As per the report, the new iPhone SE 2 from Apple is going to rock a fresh set of specifications. What the leak has highlighted is that the iPhone SE 2 will have a 4.2-inch screen instead of a 4-inch screen seen on the older iPhone SE. And under the hood, the iPhone SE 2 is expected to rock an A10 processor compared with the A9 chipset seen on iPhone SE.
An analyst from KGI Securities, Ming-Chi Kuo, highlighted an important fact about the next iPhone. As per him, the next iPhone is going to be cheap on the pocket and could ditch the 3D sensing features along with the support of wireless charging. These were some of the features that gave the newer generation iPhones – iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus an edge over other smartphones. As for the OS, Apple iPhone SE 2 is likely to run on iOS 12 straight from the box.
As per the report by QQ, the iPhone SE 2 is expected to be unveiled at the WWDC 2018. This developer specific conference will happen in June this year. As per the report, along with a 4.2-inch screen and A10 processor under the hood, the iPhone SE 2 is likely to have 2GB RAM and will come in two storage options. Apple iPhone SE 2 will come in a 32GB variant and a 128GB variant – and will have the fingerprint sensor-equipped Touch ID home button, it said.
It will be interesting to see how Apple utilises the additional 0.2-inch screen on the iPhone SE 2. Any change made in the body of the new iPhone SE 2 will make sure that any accessory of iPhone SE is out of the window. Any reduction in the bezel is very much welcomed but, if reports are to be believed, an additional 0.2-inch screen is not likely to have a major change in the look of the smartphone.
All we have to wait and see is how the new Apple iPhone SE 2 fares with its competition, provided the rumours come out true.
