Android Oreo or Android O, is the latest operating system from Google. This Android 8.0 was unveiled by the tech giant in August this year and initially it was available only for the company’s own Pixel and Nexus smartphones. While slowly other company are beginning to get the Oreo update, Motorola which is owned by Lenovo now, in a blog post, posted a list of smartphones which will receive the latest software update. However, there is no timeline provided on when Motorola will roll out the updates. It just said that the Android 8.0 Oreo will be available “this fall”, which could mean this month itself or maybe in October. Motorola’s blogpost reads as: “We’re happy to confirm Android 8.0 Oreo will be joining our fleet of Motorola smartphones, starting this fall.”
Many smartphone brands like OnePlus, Nokia, and HTC have confirmed Oreo for their mobiles. Posting a tweet, HTC said that HTC U11, HTC U Ultra, HTC 10 will be the initial few devices to get Android Oreo, starting with U11 in 4th quarter. Meanwhile, HMD Global, has informed that all of its Nokia-branded devices will be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo, including the Nokia 8, Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3. Also, Chinese phone maker OnePlus has also confirmed Android 8.0 update for OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T and the new OnePlus 5 smartphones. Apart from that, Android co-founder Andy Rubin’s Essential PH-1 smartphone will also get Android Oreo update. The list also includes premium brands like Samsung, General Mobile, Huawei, LG, Kyocera, Sony, and Sharp.
In the post, Motorola has noted the ‘full list’ of mobiles which will get the Oreo OS upgrade. While the list includes newer smartphones by the Lenovo owned company, mobiles older than the Moto G4 series might not get updated to Android Oreo.
Motorola device that will be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo includes: Moto Z, Moto Z Droid, Moto Z Force Droid, Moto Z Play, Moto Z Play Droid, Moto Z2 Play, Moto Z2 Force Edition, Moto X4, Moto G5, Moto G5 Plus, Moto G5S, and Moto G5S Plus.
