Amazon Wholesale India, the wholesale B2B arm of Amazon India, has received a capital infusion of Rs 100 crore, according to filings with Registrar of Companies (RoC). The fund infusion comes a week after Amazon Capital Holdings, Singapore, and Amazon.com Inc infused Rs 67 crore in its Indian wallet license holder, Amazon Pay.
Amazon Wholesale India that runs Amazonbusiness.in is a members-only B2B website of the company. According to company’s website, AmazonBusiness.in currently serves businesses in Bengaluru and Mangaluru only.
The website has been designed for businesses including small offices, entrepreneurs, department stores, kirana stores, drugstores, clinics, hospitals, hotels, and restaurants, who can purchase thousands of items, including business supplies and products for resale, at wholesale prices and in bulk quantities.
The recent filings show that the current tranche of funds came from Amazon Corporate Holdings Singapore and Amazon.com, Mauritius. Amazon Wholesale unit has received more than Rs 250 crore of funds from its related group of companies in 2016.
