Acer launches world’s thinnest laptop: Spin 7 sports thickness of less than 1 cm

The Taiwanese company Acer on Wednesday launched the Spin 7, world’s thinnest convertible laptop. The laptop is the first in the world to measure less than a centimetre in thickness; 0.43 inch or 10.98 to be precise and weighs in at 1.2 kg. It’s razor sharp thickness puts Apple’s MacBook to shame. The general manager of Commercial & Detachable Notebooks, IT Products Business, Acer Inc, James Lin said that the portable nature of the Spin & allows the users to go to extremes in the matter without compromising on the quality.

The Spin 7 sports a 14-inch HD touchscreen display and is protected by a covering of Corning Glass. The laptop comes with a complete aluminium unibody with black chassis and polished silver hinges. The edges around the touchpad are diamond cut in shape. It runs on Windows 10 and is powered by a 7th Generation Intel Core i7 processor. The laptop offers up to 8GB RAM and an SSD memory storage of 256GB.

In matters of connectivity, the laptop uses dual USB 3.1 Type C ports. The laptop also has a strong battery li9fe of up to 8 hours on single charge. The Spin 7 has been priced at $1,199 which roughly translates to Rs 80,000 in Indian currency. Whereas, the Spin 5, Spin 3 and Spin 1, which were also launched alongside the Spin 7 are in the markets and can be bought at a price of $599 (roughly Rs 40,000), $499 (roughly Rs 33,000), and $249 (roughly Rs 16,500) respectively.
