Following HTC’s announcement of the new “Desire” series of smartphones, leaked images surfaced online on Thursday. The leaked photo shows a new phone, widely believed to be the new HTC Bolt. what makes this picture interesting is the lack of a headphone jack. The photo shows that the HTC Bolt is pretty similar to the HTC 10 with the antenna lens and the central placing of the rear camera. The front camera too looks a little out of place with being placed on the left side of the earpiece, whereas the sensors happen to be on the right side. The Dual LED flash was also seen to have been placed above the camera module, instead of the traditional HTC way of being on the right side. It also appears that there are two SIM slots on the left edge of the HTC Bolt.
The biggest surprise is the suspected omission of the headphone jack. The HTC 10 sports a headphone jack on the top of the smartphone’s edge but the HTC Bolt did not show any such port. If HTC pulls this off, it would be the first smartphone after the Apple iPhone 7 to have dared to abolish the headphone jack. Although it would be interesting to see, if HTC goes for its own version of the “airpods” are a recompense of its imagined upgradation. If HTC removes the headphone jack, it would have to come up with an adapter for the phone’s USB Type-C port.
There is no other information available yet on the new handset, apart from what we know from the leaks. HTC is yet to officially announce the Bolt, but speculations are running wild about its release date which is said to be on October 18. It is the same date that is shown on the device’s leaked photo.
