The annual e-mail to all the employees of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) by CEO N Chandrasekaran emphasised the ever-growing importance of digital technologies and how they are positioning themselves to capture this market opportunity.
“Digital technology is evolving rapidly and it is becoming mainstream. This is presenting tremendous opportunities for the future and at the same time, is forcing every business to reimagine and rethink their products, services and business models,” the e-mail stated, adding, “Every company needs to build a digital interface to their physical assets and entities in order to deliver superior customer experience.”
India’s largest IT services exporter has already taken steps to tap into into digital opportunities through reskilling employees in these areas, while also building technology platforms. “In order to equip all our employees with the right skills in the digital world, we launched our digital learning programme. Till date, over 70,000 employees have leveraged this platform to enrich their compentencies. Machine learning and neural automation will have a strong impact on business processes,” Chandrasekaran said.
“We continue to drive five key themes across the country — security, rigour in operations, agility, automation and digital learning. Our teams have done a wonderful job in the adoption of these initiatives and have made very good progress,” Chandrasekaran said. From a geographical perspective, Northern America continues to remain the strongest market for TCS and it has strengthened its presence through investments in talent, development centres and also focus on healthcare sector. It has also taken special measures to strengthen its presence in Japan.
