Private steel major Tata Steel has rolled out a secure carpooling platform for its employees, become one of the first companies in the manufacturing sector to take a definitive step towards a greener tomorrow.

The steel giant has partnered with Bangalore-based start-up PoolCircle for this initiative, a statement from the company said today.

An app, launched by Anand Sen, President (TQM and Steel Business) recently, provides an exclusive platform for the employees to pool rides with their colleagues across the country, it said.

This initiative will enable Tata Steel employees in Delhi, where the odd-even system has returned, to pool rides with colleagues ensuring a hassle-free commutation to and from work.

The move will also help reduce vehicular traffic in Jamshedpur and Kolkata, where it has the highest number of employees, it said.

Brilliant vision by Tata. As usual one can only expect this from TATA. No Bhushan's, No Jindals and certainly no Essar's. Not sure of Reliance and others.
