Following Snapdeal’s Unbox Diwali Sale that commenced on October 2, sellers across Bengaluru, Delhi/NCR, Surat, Mumbai, Ludhiana, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Kolkata, and Tirupur emerged as top sellers in the first two days of the sale. During the period, 66,000 unique sellers from more than 200 cities received orders.
Ahead of the festive season sale, the company had entered into joint business partnership with almost 15,000 sellers across 120 cities and offered them insight into festive buying patterns and other market trends, Rajnish Wahi, senior vice president at Snapdeal told FE. “We have done joint business plan with sellers where we have walked them through what is likely to sell and what are the major consumption centres and how much quantity should be stocked by them,” he added.
Snapdeal’s advertising platform – Snapdeal Ads — reported a five times surge in revenues as sellers responded to the festive demand. Since July, 25% of Snapdeal’s entire sellers’ base has signed up for the advertising platform. “Region-wise sellers in Surat and Delhi lead in terms of maximum ads purchase and category-wise fashion and general merchandise lead the maximum ads purchase on the platform,” Wahi said.
Snapdeal also lent support to sellers via its Capital Assist Programme and Seller Store Platform. Through Capital Assist, sellers on Snapdeal raised collateral free loans of about R1,000 crore to stock-up for Diwali boost in demand. The loans were in the range of R30,000 to R1 crore with the average size being R10 lakh, according to Wahi.
The Seller Store Platform allows the sellers to customise their store’s appearance and choose widgets for their Snapdeal page. In span of one week, almost 9,000 sellers started using this platform.
In addition to electronics and fashion ethnic wear; Wahi added that home categories such as kitchen, furniture and home décor will contribute the largest chunk of sales during the festive season sale. “We at TTK Prestige have been on the forefront of innovation in the kitchen and our association with Snapdeal has always been about bringing maximum value to the customer and providing the customer the latest and exclusive products,” said Chandru Kalro, MD of Prestige.
