Anil Ambani-promoted Reliance Power reported 37% jump in consolidated net profit to Rs 345.7 crore for the quarter ended September on higher revenue from electricity generation, mainly from the Sasan Ultra Mega Power Plant (UMPP) which came fully on stream this fiscal.
For the July-September quarter, the total income of the company rose to Rs 2,856 crore, up 51% compared to Rs 1,884.18 crore in the same quarter last year. The company posted a 105% rise in EBITDA at Rs 1,221 crore.
Buoyed by the performance of Sasan UMPP, which ran at 90% availability factor, the company generated 11 billion units (BU) in the second quarter under review compared to just over 3 BU in the same quarter last fiscal year.
The company owns power projects in the private sector, based on coal, gas, hydro and renewable energy, with an operating portfolio of 5,945 megawatts.
