Reliance JioMoney Merchant Solutions to enable digital transaction at mandis, railway stations and more

Mukesh Ambai addressed the media on the 3 month anniversary of the launch of Reliance Jio and spoke about the e-wallet solutions like JioMoney and said that it was due to these services that every Indian has the ability to have a Digital ATM in their pockets. Ambani said that one of the key drivers for adoption of Digital Money and the Cashless way of living was the people’s ability to convert physical cash into digital cash and vice versa. To make this possible, Ambani said that JioMoney was expanding its reach to millions of touch points where micro-ATMs would be deployed.

Ambani then spoke about the transaction merchants and said that they were essential to enable the low-value, high-volume transactions and formed an important component of the economy. Ambani further said that to fuel these transactions Jio was working to empower the Indian merchants by building a digital retail ecosystem, which he said was being known as JioMoney Merchant Solutions. Ambani said that these would enable digital transactions of all types, whether it is at mandis, small shops and restaurants, Railways ticket counters, Bus and mass transit. Ambani said that it would even work for person to person money transfers.

Ambani said that Jio had outgrown Facebook, WhatsApp and Skype in a matter of the rate of growth. He said that in a matter of 83 days, Jio had managed to add 50 million customers on its 4G LTE all-IP wireless broadband network. Ambani informed the media that a JIo customers used 25 times more data than an average Indian broadband user. Speaking of its customers, Ambani said that Jo has managed to gain over 6 lakh customers every single day since its inception on September 1.
