Reliance Industries AGM: Kokilaben Ambani today turned emotional with tears in her eyes, when her son Mukesh Ambani said, “I want to dedicate these 40 years of achievements and records to only one person, to our founder chairman Shri Dhirubhai Ambani,” while addressing shareholders at 40th Annual General Meeting of Reliance. Mukesh himself also got emotional seeing his mother in tears. Thanking his mother for her support Mukesh said, ” All through these 40 years I am grateful to my mother Shrimati Kokilaben Ambani.” With claps, the audience in the hall also stood up when Mukesh was talking about his father and mother. They (audience) also chanted “We love Jio….We love Jio.” Mukesh today launched the much awaited Reliance Jio phone, which he dubbed as Jio phone, and priced it at an effective rate of zero. He said RJio will take Rs 1500 security deposit that will be refunded when customer returns the phone after 3 years.
Ending his speech by paying tributes to his father he said, “It is his vision and values that have guided us in this magnificent journey of Reliance. We all can feel his presence….This proud son of India who redefined the destiny of our country and its people”. In his address, Mukesh Ambani said this year marks the 40th year of IPO of Reliance Industries. On RJio, he said the telco has 125 million customers today, and it added 7 customers per second every single day. In just 6 months of Jio launch, data consumption in India went to 120 cr GB a month, from 20 cr GB, he said. RIL chief added, “India has overtaken US and China in mobile data usage”. Launching the new Jio phone, Mukesh Ambani said it is a feature phone loaded with smartphone features. Jio phone to be “most intelligent, affordable phone” in the world — a 4G LTE phone supporting all 24 Indian languages, the news agency reported.
