Police complaint against Ola for streaming pirated music

The Bengaluru police has registered a complaint of copyright infringement against cab aggregator Ola and its founders Bhavish Aggarwal and Ankit Bhati.

The Bengaluru police has registered a complaint of copyright infringement against cab aggregator Ola and its founders Bhavish Aggarwal and Ankit Bhati for allegedly streaming pirated music through its premium ride hailing service Ola Prime Play.

Bengaluru based Lahari Recording Company which has filed the complaint has alleged that Ola has been entertaining its passengers in their journey by downloading and streaming songs from Telugu and Kannada movies that are yet to be released.

The complaint was filed on May 20 after Tulasiram Naidu, director at Lahari Recording Co, found out that Ola was playing music of popular Telugu movies such as Bahubali, Chiranjeevi’s Khaidi No 150 and few Kannada movies.
