After Pierce Brosnan claimed that his image has wrongly been used by Pan Bahar for promoting their campaigns, the company has now come out in clarification. Brosnan had said that he was unaware of the tobacco inclusion in the product.
Brosnan, whose photos with the Pan Bahar jar had created quite a frenzy with people slamming him for his endorsement. Today, veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha also called it as a ‘fall of grace’ for the James Bond fame star.
The company however claims that no breaching of the contract has happened. A TOI report said that the manufacturers still stick to their claim that it does not contain any nicotine or tobacco. Thus, no violation of the contract signed with Brosnan has occurred.
He said “I was distressed to learn of Pan Bahar’s unauthorised and deceptive use of my image to endorse their range of pan masala products. I would never have entered into an agreement to promote a product in India that is dangerous to one’s health.”
The star had said that he was made to believe that it was a mouth freshener instead.
The Censor Board chief Pehlaj Nihalani had earlier said that he was disappointed with Brosnan’s choice and the ad will be banned because of the influence it can have on people.
The Pan Bahar company has given no clarification if the Hollywood star’s image will be dropped from the advertising campaigns or not. The product was earlier endorsed by Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan.
