Netflix updated in its look and feel by introducing a completely new design on its Facebook and Twitter accounts.
The new design features the letter ‘N’ in a ribbon pattern that looks like a red carpet. The design makes better use of space since it is in a square or vertical format.
The curvature at the bottom of the ‘N’-icon, is similar to the bottom curve of the old logo. It is probable that Netflix is planning on using the single-letter design as its identity. It might not come immediately across all platforms.
One can expect this to be there on smartphones too.
Although, the new design is not there on its main page, but since it has already updated its icon on important social media platforms, Netflix can be expected to be rolling out the new logo soon.
Netflix changed its visual identity for the second time, while the first one was in 2014, when it changed its DVD-era logo to a more minimalistic design.
No word on whether today’s new logo will be tied to any larger redesign to Netflix’s website or app, but we’ve contacted Netflix for more information and will update this post if we hear back.
Netflix made a comment on whether the new design is an indication for an over all revamp saying that they are introducing the new element into their branding through this change. They added that the current logo will remain but the new icon will be features on mobile apps and othe products soon.
Square formats are generally used across social media since it saves negative space and makes apps easier to get identified.
