Massive transactions surge on Flipkart, Amazon during special sale campaigns

Bengaluru-based E-commerce firm Flipkart on Thursday claimed that during its recently conducted 'Big 10' Sale, the company experienced a five-fold growth in transactions on its platform.

Bengaluru-based E-commerce firm Flipkart on Thursday claimed that during its recently conducted ‘Big 10’ Sale, the company experienced a five-fold growth in transactions on its platform. Conducted between May 14 and 18, the Big 10 sales is different from company’s flagship ‘The Big Billion Days Sale’. Speaking upon the same, the online retailer said in a statement, “We exceeded our set sale targets of 5X of a normal day. Our business numbers for five days of ‘Big 10’ Sale is almost equal to the non-sale business we do in one month.”

Speaking on the same, Smrithi Ravichandran, Flipkart Senior Director said, “Flipkart’s Big 10 Sale is a grand commemoration of all the love and support we have received from our customers over the last decade. All the teams at Flipkart from marketing, business, merchandising, to supply chain and technology, came together and have delivered phenomenal results.”

As per a report by Indian Express, Flipkart had announced offers on various smartphones, mobiles on the second day of the sale. The brands which ran high on demand during the second day were Samsung, Xiaomi, Lenovo and Moto. While Samsung, Lenovo and Motorola phones had offers during the sale, Xiaomi on the other hand had only Redmi Note 4 on sale.

The e-Commerce major also claimed that the Big 10 sale saw average selling price of phones on the website go up and credited it to the finance options available on its website. The Indian Express report further stated that Flipkart also offered its customers ‘Assured Buy Back Guarantee’ program on various smartphone brands. According to Flipkart, nearly 75 per cent plus of all purchases were done using Flipkart’s finance options.

Flipkart’s Big 10 sale kicked off soon after its Seattle-based competitor Amazon’s sale. Amazon, too, had claimed that it experienced a significant growth in number of online buyers coming to its platform between May 11 and 14.

Flipkart’s sale started right after US-based rival Amazon’s sale. Amazon, too, had said it saw significant growth in shoppers coming to its platform during May 11-14, according to PTI.
