Auto major Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) on Saturday said that it is willing to promote bio-CNG plants across the country in a big way to not only help generating clean and green energy but also help drive CNG vehicles in a big in India, said Pawan Goenka, executive director.
Addressing the gathering at the Mahindra Research Valley after inaugurating the company’s first bio-CNG plant at Mahindra World City near Chennai, Goenka said: “We will promote and set up such plants across the country in coordination with union renewable energy ministry as well interested participants. This is a small and pilot plant and we are successful in implementing so.”
The bio-CNG plant was inaugurated by Union minister of state (independent charge) for coal, power, new and renewable energy Piyush Goyal on Saturday.
“To make it commercially viable, we need land pool as well some funding from the government to start with. I strongly believe this concept can be commercially viable when we develop in a large scale. Mahindra will look at all possibilities on how to scale up this project in terms of reaching out to number of cities as well in large size. We will draw a plan for so,” Goenka added.
