Union Minister Suresh Prabhu on Saturday asked the railway personnel to focus on addressing issues, particularly those related to safety and punctuality of trains, for the next one month. The Railway Minister was speaking at the 62nd Annual Railway National Award Function-2017 held here at Sri Sathya Sai Sowbhagyam in Naya Raipur. “From Monday (April 24) onwards, for the next one month, let us focus on addressing each of the issue that we are facing, whether its related to safety, punctuality or others, and must find out solutions to the problems,” Prabhu said.

Hailing the working style of the Narendra Modi-led government, he said, “Politically we are in a stronger position in terms of implementing railway ideas. Money is not a problem, authority is not a problem. Now it’s time that we all must introspect why Railway faces short-term issues.”

“Why safety issues should not be addressed properly? Why punctuality should take a toll? Why should we get complaints from people about many different operations of Railway.

“It is very easy to keep pointing fingers, but you must take the responsibility by yourself. It’s a professional organisation and therefore it’s my job to do it, who else will do it. We are authority, now we have money made available, we have full backing of the political system and now if we don’t deliver then it is our own failure,” he added.

“This is the time when the responsibility has to be discharged by the officials, by the people on the ground, by the Railway Board, and each one of them have to really take up the responsibility and make sure that we achieve the goal and live up to the expectation of the people,” he said.

“Chairman of the Railway Board and his team will tell you that from Monday onwards for the next one month, let us rigorously work to address these issues,” he added.

I booked 60 day's advance counter ticket WL 2, but my ticket not confirmed/RAC, others tickets are confirmed/ beart alloted through recomdation by rail / other personal. After that, I can't claim refund, due to train started. After I wrote mail to minister desk mail no use from Hon. Suresh prabhu. After several remainder also no use (PNR 854 1743176) For these issues who will responsible, minister it self not responding means whom we have to ask.

I appreciate the concern of our honourable Railway Minister on Punctuality & safety. What about cleaniness which is our PM's main moto " Swach Bharat"? Still the toilets, floors even bedrolls are below standard though for all these "p engers" are paying.A suggestion- A dustbin can be kept & the attendant who is only distributing bedrolls to be utilised in attending the cleaniness & ensuring the same. You can make a auto announcement system in educating p engers on cleaniness & do's /don'ts. All bio-toilets are not working as per the set arrangement & needs to be repaired. This is for your knowing & understanding.

    1. Railway Minister. Shri Suresh Prabhu has made very valid suggestions to staff of Indian Railway (IR). So that it functions as an efficient commercial undertaking. 2. I feel that IR’s plans regarding introduction of new trains, improving p enger safety, and capital expenditure for expansion of IR network etc. are actually implemented within a reasonable time-frame. 3. While in the earlier UPA regime, political thinking of Railway ministers in charge meant that politics prevailed over economics, hardly any serious efforts were made to improve financial and organization health of the Indian Railways (IR). 4. Funds required by the Indian Railways (IR) for modernization expansion etc, cannot be easily raised and hence I believe time has come to convert the IR into an Indian Railway Corporation Ltd. (IRCL).Once IRCL is formed, it will be possible for govt. to approach the capital market and raise adequate funds required for modernization, expansion of Railway network, etc.
