International Women’s Day: Hurun Report lists 88 self-made woman billionaires, India’s Kiran Mazumdar Shaw one of them

On the occasion of International Women's Day, Hurun Report was released today, titled 'Hurun Global Self-Made Women Billionaires List', a ranking of the self-made women billionaires.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Hurun Report was released today, titled ‘Hurun Global Self-Made Women Billionaires List’, a ranking of the self-made women billionaires. In a brief summary, according to Hurun Report there are 88 self-made woman billionaires in the world out of which China holds the two-third of the whole denomination followed by USA and UK and has top three cities in the world for self-made woman billionaires in all China led by Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen. But surprisingly only 12 countries managed to produce self-made women billionaires.

China’s Chen Lihua, 76, of FuWah topped the list as the most successful businesswoman in the world with $7.2 billion net worth. Growing up in poverty, Chen moved to HK before returning to Beijing to set up her real estate group. Followed by Zhou Qunfei, 47, and Zhou Hongwen, 46, who topped the list on second and third position respectively, both are from China. Zhou Qunfei, is better known as the ‘Touchscreen Queen’ has a net worth of $6 billion, meanwhile, Zhou Hongwen has a net worth of $5.5 billion. Hangzhou-based ‘Media & Entertainment Queen’ Wu Yan, who is 36 year old, made up to list as the ‘Youngest’ self -made billionaire of the year. Tina Green, 64, is the richest non-Chinese on the list. Together with husband Philip Green, they have US$ 5.5bn, and today live in Monaco. She owns all the family shares in Jersey-registered Taveta Investments. She stood forth on the list. Other noteworthy women who made it to the list were:

• Author of Harry Potter, JK Rowling made the list with $1.4 billion.

• He Qiaonv of Orient Landscape was the most generous self-made woman last year, donating US$450 million to charity

• Oprah Winfrey has the largest social media following of any billionaire on the list

• Facebook COO, Sheryl Sandberg

Meanwhile, here’s the data that shows number of billionaires country wise. India also managed to get only one billionaire in the list and that is Kiran Mazumdar Shaw who is 63 of age and had $1.9 billion net worth:

Commenting on women billionaires list, the Chairman and Chief Researcher of Hurun Report, Rupert Hoogewerf said, “there are now more self-made women billionaires than ever before, however, they only come from 12 countries in the world. We chose International Women’s Day to release this list, to celebrate the achievement of women in business.”
