British chef-cum-restauranter Jamie Oliver is bringing his restaurants brands in India, starting with Jamie’s Italian and Jamie’s Pizzeria, both to be located in the National Capital Region (NCR). The Pizzeria will launch by the end of September and Jamie’s Italian will open in the last week of October.
Jamie’s Italian will follow the international menu, while Jamie’s Pizzeria will focus on exclusively hand-tossed pizzas for the Indian palate. Company spokesperson Jasper Reid, on being asked why the Italian brands of restaurants were chosen for the Indian market, said, “Jamie does big-flavoured, rustic Italian food at great prices, which we hope will appeal to our customers in India.” Regarding brand strategy and expansion plans, he said they are about to launch one pizzeria and one Italian restaurant, following which they will chalk out expansion plans. The investment scales several crores, with a focus on the Indian market for more than two years now. “We take India very seriously,” he said.
About plans to conquer the market, the strategy is simple: giving customers great food, service and ambience at a very affordable price. “There is no secret to good restaurants and we are old-fashioned like this”.
