Frost & Sullivan presented the “2015 Asia Pacific Economic Development Innovation: Policy and Program Implementation Excellence Award in Manufacturing” to the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Government of India, for its “Make in India” initiative. This was in recognition of its outstanding contribution to nurture India’s economic and industrial transformation. Frost & Sullivan’s Global President and Managing Partner, Mr. Aroop Zutshi presented the award to Mr. Amitabh Kant, Secretary, DIPP, on July 14th at New Delhi, India.
|According to Mr. Aroop Zutshi, Global President and Managing Partner “Global manufacturing is heading towards the fourth generation of manufacturing revolution (Manufacturing 4.0) which will redefine the terms of differentiation amongst countries. Prime Minister Modi’s Make in India initiative will not only boost Indian manufacturing potential but will reinstate the country’s global image as a high tech innovation hub as well”.|
Frost & Sullivan’s Economic Development Innovation (EDI) program identifies exemplary initiatives by governments that have the potential to transform their countries into important destinations for investments and achieve rapid economic growth. In addition, the EDI program also recognizes remarkable best practices of economic development agencies across the globe in various industry verticals, such as manufacturing, healthcare, technology and education. The awardees are benchmarked on pre-determined metrics to highlight their achievements in mitigating growth challenges through visionary initiatives.
This EDI Award endorses the vision of the program and the excellence in implementation and commends the efforts of the Government of India.
The lack of access to advanced technology, infrastructure and optimal skill sets amongst graduates has led to limited investor confidence in the Indian manufacturing sector. Achievement of excellence in policy and program implementation is exceptionally difficult with intensifying competitive environment and economic uncertainty. With Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi at the helm, the Make in India initiative has stepped in at the right time to stimulate the industry.
The program has the potential to establish India’s supremacy in the manufacturing industry with focus on operational excellence, regulatory liberalization and infrastructure development. The program aims to incentivize investments in Special Economic Zones (SEZs), National Investment and Manufacturing Zones (NIMZs), industrial corridors, and smart cities.
The Indian government is making persistent efforts to attract investments through a liberal, centralized, and digitized process and help companies establish businesses in India. These measures include reinforcing connectivity of businesses, physical and otherwise, and channelizing efficient production methodologies, which will positively influence the growth of the Indian manufacturing sector.
Make in India’s global success has received rave reviews at global platforms and forums including the EDI Council sessions at the recent Manufacturing Leadership Summit and others. Frost & Sullivan is honored to bestow the 2015 EDI Award to Make in India, an initiative which has elevated India to one of the most sought-after and dynamic global markets for investment.
