Home builders in Noida and Greater Noida will soon face the music as FIRs against builders in 24 housing projects in two cities will be lodged at the police stations concerned. This comes from the directions given by the Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration, reported the India Express. The list of projects includes 10,130 residential flats and 39 commercial units. Senior district officials along with a section of builders held a meeting on January 30. As per the report, in the meeting, the issue of handing over of flats without following the due process was raised. Following which the direction to lodge FIRs against the builder was directed by the administration.
Akhilesh Tripathi, SHO of Sector 24 police station, Noida said that the document came to them since the registration office comes under their jurisdiction. The documents have been forwarded to police stations. FIRs will be registered at the respective police stations very soon, Tripathi said.
As per the report, the officials were quoted as saying that Amrapali’s projects — Sapphire and Zodiac in Sector 120 Noida — are accused of handing over the largest number of flats (1,880 and 1,600 respectively) without following due process. While, other builders include Unitech, Ajnara Homes, AVJ Heights and Logix.
Earlier, the Yogi Adityanath had made a big promise to homebuyers in Noida and Greater Noida. The Uttar Pradesh government has issued a crackdown order that had said that possession of apartments to as many as 40000 homebuyers must be provided by December 31, 2017. Yogi had said that another 40,000 will be given possession in the next three months. Significantly, while addressing a press conference in Noida after reviewing security and other arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Noida last December, Yogi had said there are buyer-builder disputes, farmers-authority disputes, Gram Panchayat-authority disputes which need to be resolved. He has clearly hinted that the builders need to get cracking to solve these problems and hand over the property to the purchasers fast or face Uttar Pradesh government’s wrath.
