The Congress Party on Wednesday asked Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani to immediately step down from her post after a Delhi court took cognizance of a complaint filed against the latter for allegedly giving false information about her educational qualification.

“Smriti Irani has misled the entire country and the Election Commission by giving different affidavits as far as her educational qualifications are concerned. She should immediately step down and a criminal FIR should be lodged against her,” Congress spokesperson Shobha Oza told ANI.

“The court finds the case cognizable, Smriti Irani should be asked to step down for a fair probe,” added Congress leader Randeep Surjewala.

Meanwhile, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Sudhindra Bhadoria also added that Irani has no moral right to continue in office.

“Court has taken her degree case into cognizance. Smriti Irani has now no moral right to continue in office,” said Bhadoria.

The trial court has fixed August 28, as the next date for recording pre-summoning evidence in the complaint filed against Irani.

Is this worth a Breaking News? channels are Breaking the News every hour throughout day. Can some one expose their hidden agenda? Spreading silly rumors can confuse people. There are plenty of important News items that a National media can telecast. The issue is best discussed in people's court. The same controversy came up before the 2014 polls. Smriti contested against from Amethi and lost. Both Arun Jaitley and Smriti are Rajya Sabha members only. The Opposition parties have formed a Chakravyuh against BJP, with a series of never ending allegations. They do not the parliament to function properly, at the cost of ruining the country. Just wondering why people elected these shameless people to parliament. Another tactic of Cong-media is to bring BJP to the level of congress saying that both Cong and BJP are corrupt. This is not at all correct. Cong is much above when it comes to senseless per. Remember the proverbs (1) A barking dog never bite (2) Empty vessels makes the loudest noise
