E-commerce major Flipkart’s chief financial officer Sanjay Baweja has decided to leave the organisation, marking another top level exit at the company. A Flipkart spokesperson confirmed the development, when contacted by FE. Baweja’s last day at Flipkart wil be December 31. Flipkart has already set in motion a plan to find his replacement.
Baweja has left the company within two years of taking over as CFO of Flipkart. He had joined the company on November 5, 2014. Baweja had left Tata Communications as CFO to join Flipkart.
The move comes at a time, when all the Indian e-commerce majors are locked in a battle for festive season supremacy. In February this year, Mukesh Bansal, who was its commerce head moved on and so did chief business officer Ankit Nagori.
Baweja was responsible for financial reporting and compliance, treasury and fund management at Tata Communications between January 2009 and November 2, 2014. He served as the chief financial officer of Emaar MGF Land Limited from October 10, 2005 to January 2009.
He has been an independent non-executive director at OnMobile Global Limited since May 28, 2015. He completed his Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Delhi. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of INdia and Associate Member of the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India.
While there are talks that he may rejoin the Tata Group, this could not be confirmed immediately.
