India’s third largest IT services exporter, Wipro, has appointed Bhanumurthy B M as its new chief operating officer (COO) replacing Abidali Neemuchwala, who has been elevated as the chief executive officer effective from February 1, 2016.
Bhanumurthy, a Wipro veteran, is currently the president & chief executive of its business application services division. Confirming this development to FE, Wipro said, “Bhanumurthy B M (Bhanu) has been appointed as president & chief operating officer of Wipro. In his role, Bhanu will provide leadership to all the service lines.” He will be reporting into Neemuchwala.
The service lines which will come under Bhanumurthy include: business application, global infrastructure services, product engineering services, analytics, application management and business process services, service transformation and excellence, global delivery enablement and quality function.
The elevation of Neemuchwala as CEO has also witnessed certain other realignment within Wipro. G K Prasanna, who is currently the president & chief executive of global infrastructure services has been appointed as the president of a newly created unit – Marketing, Innovations and Technology (MIT).
MIT will comprise CTO & CIO offices, marketing, strategic engagements and integrated solutions group (ISG).
According to Wipro, this new team will focus on non-linear growth engines, products and platform-based services, integrated solutions, research, and new technologies.
